Food-Grade Materials & FDA Compliance
Zijin Packaging uses films, laminating adhesives, and printing inks that meet FDA food-contact requirements. PE, OPP, and CPP materials comply with FDA 21 CFR 177.1520; PET complies with 21 CFR 177.1630; and laminating adhesives comply with 21 CFR 175.105. Reverse printing is used in the laminated structure to keep ink from coming into direct contact with food while controlling the risk of migration of ink-related substances.
Additional Factors to Consider When Choosing Food Stand Up Pouches Compared with Regular Stand Up Pouches
Compared with regular stand up pouches, food stand up pouches require additional consideration of the food’s characteristics, filling and processing methods, and storage conditions, beyond barrier performance, to meet specific food packaging requirements.
Hot Filling, Pasteurization & Retort Processing: For example, ready-to-eat beef curry requires retort sterilization after filling. Our solution uses a heat-resistant PET/PA/RCPP material structure together with retort-grade laminating adhesives. Pouches made with this structure can withstand temperatures of approximately 121°C and are also suitable for hot filling and pasteurization.
Vacuum Packaging: For example, beef jerky is vacuum-packed to preserve its flavor and quality. Our PET/PE vacuum food pouches achieve a heat-seal strength of 20–45 N/15 mm, and leak testing is used to verify pouch seal integrity and reduce the risk of air leakage after vacuum sealing.
Pouch Swelling: For example, freshly roasted coffee beans continue to release carbon dioxide after packaging, which can cause the pouch to swell. We can fit coffee stand up pouches with a one-way degassing valve that allows gas inside the pouch to escape while limiting the entry of outside air.
Frozen & Hard Foods: Frozen foods and foods with hard or sharp parts need packaging that resists punctures. Our solution uses a PET/PA/PE material structure, in which the PA layer offers good toughness and puncture resistance, reducing the risk of pouch damage during transportation and storage.
