How Stand Up Pouches Achieve Recyclability
Common recyclable stand up pouches typically use PE or PP material systems to achieve better compatibility with recycling processes. Compared with traditional structures such as PET/PE and PET/VMPET/PE, which are made by combining different materials, PE-based or PP-based stand up pouches use PE or PP as the main material and minimize dissimilar materials that are incompatible with the corresponding recycling stream.
At the same time, the recyclability of a package depends on more than the main film material. Zippers, spouts, inks, laminating adhesives, and other components also need to be compatible with PE or PP recycling streams. Therefore, recyclable stand up pouches need to be considered as a whole in terms of film materials, components, printing, and lamination materials.
