What’s the Difference Between Zipper Closures and Top Heat Seals on Stand Up Pouches?
Zipper closures and top heat seals serve different purposes in stand up pouches. The overall sealing performance of a pouch depends largely on the integrity of its heat seals, including the side, bottom, and top seals. The top heat seal seals the pouch after filling, while the zipper allows consumers to repeatedly open and reseal the pouch after the top seal has been removed. Unlike heat seals, zippers cannot guarantee a completely airtight seal.
