What Products Are Child Resistant Mylar Bags Suitable For?

Child Resistant Mylar Bags are suitable for products that should not be easily accessed by children and that also require moisture, oxygen, light, or odor barrier protection. Common applications include cannabis products and pharmaceuticals, such as:

Weed

Gummies

Pre-rolls

Cannabis concentrates

Tablets

Capsules

Differences and Advantages of Child Resistant Mylar Bags vs. Standard Flexible Packaging

The main differences between child-resistant foil bags and standard flexible packaging lie in the opening method and barrier structure.

Standard stand-up pouches typically use conventional press-to-close zippers that consumers can pull open directly. Child-resistant foil bags use child-resistant (CR) zippers that require specific opening actions, such as pinching, pressing, pulling, or sliding.

In terms of materials, child-resistant foil bags use aluminum foil (AL) or metallized film to enhance the barrier performance of the pouch.

Advantages of Child Resistant Mylar Bags

Improved packaging safety. CR zippers add extra opening steps and operational difficulty, reducing the risk of children accidentally accessing the contents.

Resealable closure. After adults open the pouch and remove the product, the CR zipper can be reclosed, making it suitable for products that are accessed multiple times.

High-barrier protection. The CR function is mainly provided by the closure system, so barrier materials such as VMPET and AL can still be selected according to product requirements to provide moisture, oxygen, light, and aroma protection.
